The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Sunday again urged the government to send BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to the specialised United Hospital in Dhaka for her treatment at her own cost as she wishes it.
The leaders of the SCBA demanded this at a press conference in the bar auditorium in Dhaka yesterday afternoon. President of the

organization Advocate Zainul Abedin delivered main speech in the conference. Bar Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan and other leaders were also present on the occasion.
Advocate Zainul Abedin said, “The government wants her early death by keeping her in confinement without proper treatment, which is very unfortunate and condemnable.”
“Khaleda Zia has been groaning in her bed for some days due to her illness. On the one hand, she is not given treatment, and on the other hand, no one is being allowed to meet her. On Saturday her elder sister was not allowed to enter the jail to meet her. It means, Khaleda is so sick that she cannot get up from the bed,” the SCBA President alleged.
Advocate Zainul Abedin said that Khaleda Zia had earlier suffered a mild stroke.
“Then we called the government to send her to the United Hospital for her treatment. But the government paid no heed to us, which is surprising,” he said.
He said Khaleda Zia got bail from the apex court in the case she was convicted. But the government is obstructing her release by showing her arrested in other cases one after another, Advocate Zainul added.
