Staff Reporter :President of Supreme Court Bar Association Khandaker Mahbub Hossain has urged the government to return Salahuddin Ahmed, Joint Secretary General of BNP, without harming him. ‘I urge the government to return him (Salahuddin) to his family without any harm,’ he said while addressing a press briefing held at the South Hall of Supreme Court Bar Association on Saturday. Khandaker Mahbub Hossain, who is also to the BNP Chairperson, said, ‘It is the duty of the government to protect the people. If the government fails to do their duty and tells a lie to the civilians about the disappearance of Salahuddin Ahmed, then they have no right to stay in power.’Hasina Ahmed, wife of Salahuddin Ahmed, who was also present in the press briefing, said, ‘Salahuddin Ahmed is a very popular leader. A popular person like him cannot be so harshly taken away by the law enforcing bodies. They are now denying their involvement and pretending as it they had no information about my husband.’ ‘Earlier, the State Minister for Home said that that the news of his (Salahuddin) disappearance was not clear to him. If he (Salahuddin) has done anything wrong, he can be arrested and brought to justice after proper investigation. However, nobody has the right to take away my husband in this manner. I demand his safe return to the family,’ she said.
