Some 550 flour mills are on the verge of closure in Chuadanga district due to acute security of wheat.
Mill sources said that following consecutive bumper paddy production in the Last few years the farmer Lost interest to cultivate wheat and the demand for atta also declined sharply in all the 4 up a 3eLas of the district.
As a result, the owners of the flour mills have been facing problem to run their business potentialities creating job opportunities for hundreds of works.
Low income group of people were the main consumers of atta in the district in the past but now the days have change as the rice of price is now lower in the market. Besides the per capital income of the common people has increased and their food habits have been changed in the recent years.
