The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Monday upheld the bail granted to three officials of state-owned Agrani Bank Ltd, including its Deputy Managing Director Mizanur Rahman Khan, in a loan-scam case.
The five-member Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice SK Sinha, passed the order rejecting a petition filed by Anti Corruption Commission, seeking a stay on their bail.
The two other officials are bank’s Deputy General Manager
Aktarul Alam and Assistant General Manager Shafiullah.
ACC lawyer Syed Mamun Mahbub said the three top officials of Agrani Bank secured bail from separate courts on August 4. Later, the High Court upheld the lower court orders granting bail to the trio after the ACC challenged the bail. The HC also asked the accused to submit their passports to the judicial court.
On June 30, the ACC filed a case against the three top officials of Agrani Bank for sanctioning Tk 108 crore illegally as loan to Moon Group.
According to the case statement, the Agrani Bank officials provided loan worth Tk 108 crore to Moon Group chairman Mizanur Rahman. They embezzled Tk 94.80 crore from the loan.
