The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the High Court verdict that granted bail to three owners of Apan Jewellers — Dildar Ahmed, Gulzar Ahmed and Azad Ahmed — in three separate money laundering cases.
A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by the Acting Chief Justice Md Abdul Wahhab Miah dismissed three leave-to-appeal petitions filed by the government challenging the High Court verdict that granted bail to three owners of Apan Jewellers. Gulzar Ahmed and Azad Ahmed will get release from jail following the Supreme Court while Dildar Ahmed cannot get release as he has been shown arrested in two other cases, Advocate A M Aminuddin and Barrister Mehdi Hasan Chowdhury, lawyers for the accused, told the journalists.
