Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha said on Wednesday that the Supreme Court was trying relentlessly to establish ‘rule of law.’
He said this while addressing a meeting arranged in Supreme Court Bar Auditorium in memory of M Abdur Rahim, a member of Constitution Formation Committee and father of Justice M Enayetur Rahim. Bangladesh National Lawyers’ Association was the host of this meeting.
The Chief Justice said to the lawyers “If you (lawyer) don’t make our hands strong, then we will not be able to establish rule of law any way. We have tried a lot. Specially the Supreme Court is trying relentlessly to establish ‘rule of law.”
Justice Md. Abdul Wahhab Miah, Barrister M Amir-Ul Islam, Advocate Khandker Mahbub Hossain, Advocate Zainul Abedin, Advocate Yusuf Hussain Humayun and Advocate Abdul Baset Majumder were also among those who reminisced in the meeting.
The Chief Justice said also that the situation deteriorated in our country after the independence. M Abdur Rahim was among them who sacrificed for the perfection of the country. He worked for the country’s development. ‘I will place him in the first row of them who were the vanguards of our Constitution’, he added.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim also reminisced his father.
Advocate Shah Khasruzzaman presided over the meeting. Supreme Court Bar Secretary Barrister A M Mahbub Uddin Khokan thanked all for their presence in the meeting.
