The Appellate Division on Tuesday fixed November 27 for hearing the leave petition filed by BNP chairperson
Khaleda Zia, an accused in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, against a High Court verdict upholding the trial court order on charge framing.

M Abdul Wahhab Miah passed the order. The hearing on the petition for seeking leave-to-appeal will take place in the regular bench of the Supreme Court.
Khandker Mahbub Hossain, assisted by barrister Mahbubuddin Khokon, appeared for Khaleda Zia, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam for the government. Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan stood for the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC).
On March 19 this year, the Special Judge’s Court-3 of Dhaka framed charges against the BNP chairperson, her eldest son Tarique Rahman and seven others in the Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases.
The trial court on October 13 adjourned recording the statements of the prosecution witnesses against Khaleda Zia till October 26 in the Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases.
On August 8, 2011, the ACC filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of abusing power in raising funds for the trust from unknown sources.
ACC deputy director Harunur Rashid, also an investigation officer of the case, pressed charges against the accused on January 16, 2012.
Besides, the ACC filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on July 3, 2008 with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda Zia, her eldest son Tarique Rahman, now living in the UK after securing bail, and four others of misappropriating over Tk 2.10 crore which came as grants from a foreign bank for orphans.
On August 5, 2010, ACC deputy director Harunur Rashid submitted a charge-sheet to the court in the case against six people, including the BNP chairperson.
