The Supreme Court (SC) has fixed November 6 as the new hearing date of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia`s petition for leave to appeal in the Zia Orphanage Trust case. A five-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, fixed the date on Sunday morning. The SC bench passed the order in response to a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) with a pray for early hearing the appeal. Today, Advocate Joynul Abedin, Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, A J Muhammad Ali and Mahbub Uddin Khokon moved for Khaleda while Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan moved for the ACC. On October 14, Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, a vacation bench chamber judge of the Appellate Division fixed November 27 for hearing on Khaleda’s leave to appeal petition in the corruption case in response to her petition.
