SC pulls up 10 pvt medical colleges for irregularities

bdnews24.com :The Appellate Division has pulled up authorities of 10 private medical colleges for admitting students who failed to fulfill requirements fixed by the government.It ordered chairmen and principals of the colleges to come up with explanations by Aug 21. Wednesday’s order, by the chief justice led appeals bench, came after hearing a leave-to-appeal petition against a High Court order.The ten medical colleges pulled up are MH Samorita Medical College, City Medical College, Nightingale Medical College, ZH Sikder Medical College, AR Medical College, East West Medical College, Tairunnessa Memorial Medical College, Aichi Medical College, Care Medical College and Ashiyan Medical College.The colleges had admitted 153 students in 2014-15 session, who failed to obtain the minimum score in the admission test held by the health ministry.The Dhaka University, which administers the professional examinations of the medical colleges, said it will not issue registration and admit cards for the first parts of the exams to the 153 students.The students moved the High Court and got a rule in favour of them. The Dhaka University authorities filed a petition to appeal against the order, which was heard on Wednesday by the Supreme Court.
