Staff Reporter :The Dhaka Central Jail authorities have taken the preparations to execute the death sentence of war crimes convict Muhammad Kamaruzzaman. Forman Ali, Superintendent of the Dhaka Central Jail, on Monday said, “We have completed all preparations.” He, however, added that the jail authorities did not yet get the copy of the order of the Supreme Court. Law Minister Anisul Haq said that the death penalty of Kamaruzzaman would be executed as soon as possible. The Jamaat leader will get some hours to seek Presidential mercy. If he refuses, he will be hanged within short time, he added. The jail authorities asked the family members of Kamaruzzaman to meet him at Dhaka Central Jail. A three-member prisons delegation delivered a letter to his house at Mirpur in the city in the afternoon. Following the letter, Kamaruzzaman’s wife Nurunnahar, sons Hassan Iqbal and Hassan Imam and daughter Atiya Nur and some other family members and relatives met the Jamaat leader in the jail in the evening. DIG (Prison) Gulam Haider entered the prison along with the relatives and family members of Kamaruzzaman. However, the jail authorities did not allow the lawyers of Kamaruzzaman to meet him.
