SC extends stay on mobile court by 5 weeks

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday extended for five more weeks the stay on the High Court (HC) order that declared illegal running mobile courts by executive magistrates.
A four-member bench of the Appellate Division led by acting Chief Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah passed the order.
The apex court came up with the order as the state represented by attorney general Mahbubey Alam pleaded six more weeks’ extension.
Earlier on October 10, the apex court extended its stay on the ban on executive magistrate-run mobile
courts, validating its operation for three more weeks.
Earlier on May 11, the High Court declared illegal of the operation of mobile court by the executive magistrate and later on May 14 after hearing on a government appeal the chamber judge stayed until May 18.
On May 21, the SC adjourned the verdict of the High Court till July 2.
Later, the SC extended the time for several times.
