The Chamber Court of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court will resume its functions through virtual system from January 16 this year as the infection ratio of the Coronavirus is increasing gradually.
Chamber Judge Obaidul Hassan on Tuesday announced the decision while hearing the cases, said Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta.
Amid fears of the spread of the omicron, a highly contagious Covid-19 variant, the government has announced a set of new pandemic restrictions, including a vaccine-certificate requirement for dining in restaurants.
The Cabinet Division issued a notification in this regard on Monday which will come into effect from January 13 and will remain in force until further order.
The notification banned all open-air gatherings, social, political and religious events. It also ordered buses and trains to operate with half capacity. People must also show vaccine certificates to stay in hotels in line with the new rules.
After a long gap, the Supreme Court resumed its trial proceedings with direct physical presence instead of virtual process since December 1 in 2021. But after one month of that resumption the Chamber Court again announced decision to continue its function through virtual process.
