The waiting moment has finally arrived as the home of cricket, Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS), finally touched the milestone hosting the 100th ODI through a match between Sri Lanka
and Zimbabwe as part of the triangular series at Mirpur on Wednesday.
The SBNCS has become the sixth venue to achieve such a feat after Sharjah Cricket Stadium, UAE (231 matches), Sydney Cricket Ground, Australia (154), Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australia (148), Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe (136), and R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo (124).
The SBNCS venue has become a historic ground for the Tigers in the last few years as Bangladesh beat some big teams in this venue. Some memorable achievements include – the 4-0 series sweep against New Zealand in 2010, reaching the final of the 2012 Asia Cup, winning series’ against Asian powerhouses like India and Pakistan and a 2-1 series win against South Africa in 2015.
The Tigers also notched their historic Test matches victories against mighty England and Australia in 2016 and 2017 respectively in this venue. The SBNCS venue also successfully hosted major ICC events like the 2011 ICC World Cup as co-host and the 2014 World T20I.

Zimbabwe played the first ODI in this venue back in December 8 2006 and also the 100th today against Sri Lanka. The highest score at SBNCS was India’s 370 for 4 against Bangladesh during the ICC World Cup 2011 on February 19.
Bangladesh’s highest total at SBNCS was 329 for 6 against Pakistan on April 17, 2015 while the lowest total record in this venue created by the Tigers as they were dismissed at a paltry total of 58 against West Indies on March 4, 2011 and also by India on June 17, 2014.
Dashing opener Tamim Iqbal scored his highest individual score as Bangladeshi making 132 runs against Pakistan on April 17, 2015. He is also the highest run scorer of this venue while Australian all-rounder Shane Watson scored the highest individual score of unbeaten 185-run against Bangladesh in this venue in April 11, 2011.
World number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has the most wicket taking record in this venue taking 106 wickets while Bangladesh’s wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim had the most dismissal record with 81 which included 61 catches and 20 stumping.
