SBAC Bank ex-director Moazzam asked to surrender

The High Court on Monday directed Capt (retd) M Moazzam Hossain, a former director of the South Bengal Agriculture and Commerce Bank Limited (SBAC), to surrender in the concerned trail court within four weeks in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on charge of misappropriating bank’s money.
The HC Bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order after hearing a petition
filed by Moazzam Hossain seeking anticipatory bail in the case. The court, however, summarily rejected his bail petition and asked him to surrender within four weeks.
Lawyer Shah Monjurul Haque appeared in the hearing on behalf of Capt Moazzam Hossain while, advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the ACC and deputy attorney general AKM Amin Uddin Manik represented the State.
The ACC filed the case on January 17 this year against eight officials of the SBAC Bank Limited including its former director Capt (retd) M Moazzam Hossain on charge of misappropriating Tk 121.1 million.
