SB Inspector Mahfuz killing case transferred to Dhaka STT-3

The sensational case in connection with the murder of Special Branch (SB) Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman has been transferred to Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 from Dhaka’s Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court for quick disposal.
Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Jahurul Haque transferred the case after receiving the gazette notification of the Home Ministry. Deputy Secretary Md Mizanur Rahman of law section of the Ministry signed the notification on
October 21. With this case, 13 more cases have been transferred to Speedy Trial Tribunal.
The Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court began the trial of the case on May 6. Of the 51 witnesses, so far 19 testified.
On August 18 last year, police recovered the decomposed bodies of SB Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman from their Chamelibagh residence in the capital.
Later, their only daughter Oishee Rahman surrendered to the police confessing her involvement in the killing. Police also arrested her two friends Asaduzzaman Jony and Mizanur Rahman Rony and domestic help Khadiza Akkhter Sumi in connection with the murder.
On August 24 last year, Oishee made confessional statement, admitting her involvement in the murder.
Abul Khayer, Inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan DB Police, submitted two charge sheets in the case against Oishee and three others including Sumi in March this year. Later on May 6, the two previous courts framed charges against three accused.
