Additional Superintendent of police (ASP) of Special Branch (SB) Md Azizur Rahman died of Covid-19 infection, taking the overall death toll of police personnel to 76 from the pandemic.
He died at 12:30pm on Saturday, while undergoing treatment at Mugda General Hospital in the city.
It is mentionable that this police officer was involved with publishing a book titled “Secret Documents of Intelligence Branch on Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.
Azizur Rahman was admitted to the 500-bed Mugda General Hospital in Dhaka with corona symptoms and breathed his last on Saturday noon.
He joined the Police force on January 1, 1982 and Special Branch’s Political wing on August 27, 2002. Azizur retired on April 30, 2019. He was recruited again by the government on a contractual basis due to his skills.
Azizur Rahman came from Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district. He is survived by wife and two sons.
The body was sent to his village home under the management of Bangladesh Police and buried in his family graveyard in the presence of senior police officers.
