Sazzad, Motahar elected President, Secy of JUTA

Bangabandhu Shikkhok Forum, VC-backed teachers’ pannel of Jahangirnagar University (JU) got majority in the annual election of university teachers’ association.
The pannel won in 12 posts out of including president and secretary beating the anti-vc pannel.
Professor Layek Sazzad Andallah of Mathematics Department and Prof Motahar Hossain of Institute of Business Administration elected President and Secretary respectively.
Election commissioner and associate prof Nazmul Islam of institute of business administration declare the result at the JU teachers’ club on Wednesday evening.
Prof Ismot Ara of Zoology Department , and Prof Muhammad Sayadur Rahman of Public Administration Department elected as Treasurer.
The other executive body members from the VC-backed pannel are prof Shamim Kaiser of Institute of Information Technology, Prof Nayeem Aziz Ansary of Geography and Environment Department, Prof Jugal Krishna Das of CSE Department,
Prof Bulbul Ahmed of Archaeology Department, Prof Syed Hafizur Rahman of Environmental Sciences, Prof Syeda Fahliza Begum of Geological Sciences, Prof Akber Hossain of Anthropology Department Associate Prof Fahmida Akter of Drama and Dramatics department.
Prof Shahed Rana of Chemistry Department elected as Joint Secretary, Prof Sohel Rana of Pharmacy Department and Prof Monwar Hossain of Zoology Department elected as Executive Member from the anti-VC panel under the banner of ‘Jatiyatabadi Shikkhok Oikya Forum’.
 The pannel is allaince of the organisation of pro-awami teachers ‘Bangbandhur Adorsho O Muktijuddher Chetonay Biswasi Progotishil Shikkhok Somaj’ and a faction of pro-BNP teachers ‘Nationalist Teachers’ Forum’. However, there was no pannel of the left-leaning teachers in the election.
Earlier the day, a number of 578 teachers out of 606 voters took part in the poll held from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm.
Besides, the VC, pro-VCs and Treasurer of the university congratulated them immediately after the declaration of result.
