Masud Bin Sayedi, third son of Jamaat leader Moulana Delwar Hossain Sayedi was unofficially declared winner in Zianagar, Pirojpur Upazila Parishad election on Sunday. He defeated his nearest rival Awami League backed candidate Abdul Khaleque Gazi by a margin of 14630 votes.
Masud contested the election as a Jamaat backed candidate. He got 21,152 votes while Khaleque Gazi got 6,522 votes, reports said.
Delwar Hossain Sayedi has been sentenced to death for committing crimes against humanity during the war of liberation in 1971.
