UNB, Dhaka :
Sector Commanders Forum and Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee on Wednesday said the verdict of the Supreme Court against Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee did not fulfill the people’s expectations.
They, however, said the SC verdict commuting Sayedee’s death sentence handed down by the International Crimes Tribunal-1 to imprisonment until death has proved that he had committed crimes against humanity during the Liberation War 1971.
The two organisations came up with the remarks in their instant reaction to the verdict of the Supreme
Court delivered on Wednesday.
In a statement, the Sector Commanders Forum said the country’s freedom fighters wanted to see highest punishment against Sayedee.
The forum also thinks that those who had been involved in crimes against humanity and played the role of ‘razakars’ during the liberation war must face death penalty.
In separate statement, leaders of Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee said the verdict is disrespectful to the freedom fighters and families of the martyrs.
