An emerging model Sohanur Islam Shuvo, who passed MBA last year from Northern University Dhaka, is now passing his days in a miserable condition with his both legs crippled following tendon-cut by the miscreants.
The ill-fated youth came under attack of miscreants led by alleged terrorist Rabiul Islam Rally when he went to see his family members at their Dilarpar house at Beltola in Pabna town on December 2 last year. He completed HSC
and Graduation from Notre Dame College, Dhaka. Family members of Sohanur in a press conference at Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh [CRAB] have urged the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Inspector General of Police to protect Sohanur Islam from the wrath of hardcore criminals.
They also alleged that the criminals are now creating pressure on them to withdraw case which already filed with the concerned police station after the attack. They are feeling insecure as the miscreants are threatening them storming their house each and every day.
“The accomplices of prime accused Rally, son of Abdul Khalek, comes from Shalgaria of Pabna, recently beat me on the open street and threatened me to face dire consequences, if I do not withdraw the case immediately. Not only that, they also asked me to sell my home to them, or face death. I’ve lodged a GD with Pabna Sadar Police Station in this connection,” mother of the victim Mala Islam said.
She said the reason behind the attack was nothing but long-standing sequel over their ancestral home, which Rally allegedly tried to buy to expand his land development business.
“I’ve also personally informed the matter to senior police officials, including IGP AKM Shahidul Islam, urging him to take immediate action in this regard,” the wailing mother said.
Describing the incidenbt, she said, “A gang of criminals led by Rally attacked Sohanur on the day. They took him inside a godown behind Rally Super Market at Shalgaria. Then they blindfolded him and forcibly put him in a jute bag. Later, they beat him mercilessly with hammers and iron rods.”
“At one stage, the miscreants cut tendons of his hands and legs. They left the area thinking that Sohanur would be dead within a short time due to profuse bleeding. But he was saved miraculously,” the mother said.
She continued, “Some local traders and shoppers of the market rescued my son and sent him to Pabna Sadar Hospital. Later he was shifted to Dhaka Orthopedic Hospital [Pangu Hospital] when his condition deteriorated. But two legs of my son still remained crippled.”
