Chittagong Bureau :
The ex-cadets passed from Bangladesh Marine Academy fear the ruination of Bangladesh maritime sector in the near future over the issuance of CDC to the cadets passed from Marine Fisheries Academy violating the rules of International Maritime Organisation.
This was disclosed in the press meet arranged at Chittagong Press Club yesterday morning by the Ex-cadets of Bangladesh Marine Academy.
The press meet was told that a vested quarters is lobbying the concerned authority to issue CDCs to the fishery cadets hiding the real truth which will jeopardize the marine sector as well as the fishery sector.
On the other hand , Bangladesh will be black listed in IMO for these illegal issue of CDC to fishery cadets and hence marine cadets of Bangladesh will not get chance to work in any foreign merchant vessels.
Engr Ashraf Noor of fifth batch of BMA read out the written statement before the pressmen. The written statement was told that to mitigate the complications in sailors service, BMA decreased admission for only 80 seats from earlier 300 seats. In this situation, if the fishery cadets are entered in marine sector , the mercantile marine sector will be ruined, sources said.
The press meet was also told that the Bangladeshi flag vessels now stand at 30 only from previous 78 whereas the fisheries vessels increased to many times and most of fishery vessels have no master. Despite available vacant posts in fishery vessels , a vested quarters is perusing the authorities to issue CDCs to fishery cadets for serving in marine merchant vessels, sources said.
