The Local Government Ministry has suspended Savar Upazila’s Kaundia Union Council Chairman Atiqur Rahman Khan Shanto for his alleged involvement in corruption and financial irregularities.
The Local Government Ministry issued an order in this connection on Thursday.
The ministry has got huge evidence of project irregularities against him, according to an official letter signed by Deputy Secretary of the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry Azizul Islam.
Of the allegations include embezzlement of fund meant for construction of a road at Singasare village of the union and irregularities in test relief (TR) and food for works (ffw) projects.
In addition to this, there is the allegation of showing fake resolution allegedly prepared by the chairman.
