An expatriate was shot dead by a gang of unidentified robbers at Raipur village under Nababganj upazila in Dhaka district early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shahid Khan, 40. Shahid came home from Saudi Arabia recently on a leave.
Quoting locals, Nababganj Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sayedur Rahman said that a gang of armed robbers wearing masks swooped on Shahid in his house around 2:00am. As the house inmates intercepted the gang, they fired gunshots, leaving Shahid critically injured. He was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where the doctors declared him dead.
The robbers looted valuables from his house and managed to flee from the spot by hacking Shahid’s wife, the OC said.
