Saudi company to invest $30m in forest industry

A Saudi Arabian Company would invest US$ 30 million in Bangladesh’s forest industry sector.
To this end, the company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation (BFIDC) at the conference room of environment, forest and climate change ministry, said a ministry press release.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Shahab Uddin said a modern furniture factory would be set up with the Saudi Arabian financing in Kalur Ghat of Chattogram where BFIDC would supply raw materials.
The furniture produced in the factory would be exported to Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern countries, he added.
Shahab Uddin said BFIDC would get a portion of profit of the factory.
Deputy Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Habibun Nahar, Secretary of the ministry Abdullah Al Mohsin Chowdhury and officials concerned were present.
