Students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) went on the rampage and vandalised at least 20 vehicles in the city’s Agargaon area on Tuesday morning protesting death of one of their fellows in a road accident.
Officer-in-Charge of Kafrul Police Station Abdul Qaiyum said Alif, a first year student of the university, fell under the wheels of a ‘Bihanga Paribahan’ bus and was severely injured as he was getting down from it on the Agargaon Bypass Road at about 8:45 am.
Alif was rushed to
National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (commonly known as Pangu Hospital) where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
As the news of Alif’s death spread, students of the university in their hundreds took to the street and vandalised at least 20 vehicles in the area at about 11:00 am. Informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
