UNB, Satkhira :
An activist of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal, associate body of BNP for youths, received bullet wounds in a gunfight between police and Jubo Dal activists at Joynagar in Shyamnagar upazila early Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Jamal Hossain, 32, an activist of local unit Jubo Dal and son of Ashraful Sardar of Kashimari village of the upazila.
Sagir Miah, officer-in-charge of Shyamnagar Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Jamal at about 4:00 am.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, supporters of Jamal exploded three hand bombs and opened fire at police prompting the law enforcers to fire back.
When Jamal tried to escape, he was caught in the line of fire and received bullet injuries to the right leg.
Two policemen were also injured during the clash.
Injured Jamal along with the policemen was admitted to the local upazila health complex.
