Robbers looted valuables worth Tk 8 lakh from a house at Sultanpur in the district town early Thursday. Abu Bakkar Siddique, owner of the house, said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 7/8, stormed his house in the area at about 2:45 am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.
They looted five tolas gold ornaments, Tk 5 lakh cash, mobile phone sets and other valuables from the house and decamped with the booty.
