Police on Wednesday arrested a local leader of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in connection with the attack on convoy of the then opposition leader Sheikh Hasina in Kolaroa upazila on August 30, 2002.
The arrestee was identified as Rabiul Islam, joint secretary of Kolaroa upazila unit BNP and also chairman of Jugekhali union parishad.
Masud Karim, officer-in-charge of Kolaroa Police Station, said Chief Judicial Magistrate Nitai Chandra Saha of Satkhira district court on October 15, 2014 ordered to record the case in connection with the attack.
After the case was recorded, police arrested Rabiul from his house at Jugekhali village in the upazila at about 9:30am on Wednesday.
