Satkhira Bazaar helping create women employment and forex earning

Satkhira Bazaar, a sister concern of us based Emerson Manufacturing Company, helping Bangladeshi handicraft manufacturers to earn foreign currency as it sources products from them and export to United States, European Union and Australian markets.
Satkhira Bazaar is also working to create self employment through training programme to the rural people who are deprived of large scale facilities to manufacture products, said a statement. It also helps empowerment of women especially underprivileged women.
Satkhira Bazarar was established in December 2014 for the purpose of selling exclusively Bangladeshi-made products in the United States, Australia and Europe. The endeavor was an extension of the philanthropic work of Emerson that started in May 2014.
With the help and expertise of QAF’s founder Zakir Hossain, SatkhiraBazaar has been able to source products throughout Bangladesh. Working together, QAF and Satkhira Bazaar has focused on empowering the women in rural area around the country, said the statement.
Our main object is promote rural business so that they can be self reliant and earn money from export of handicraft and cottage products that are scattered in the each corner of Bangladesh, QAF’s founder Zakir Hossain said.
We directly source products from the manufactures and they are no middlemen, which help them to get the real price, said Zakir.
We are also proving training to the rural women so that they can run small business and earn money to contribute the national economy it is our responsibility to promote Bangladesh traditional products to the global market, said Zakir adding that as per of our philanthropic we are providing medical treatment to the slum dwellers.
The primary focus of Satkhira Bazaar is procuring household products including rugs, embroidery, wood products, jute products, and terracotta pottery, with a total of over one hundred handicraft items and handicrafts directly from Bangladeshi villages through cooperatives and in some cases from specific individuals.
The system is aimed at insuring direct payment without any middleman.
Satkhira Bazaar selected suppliers from Rangpur, Jamalpur, Satkhira, Jessore, Khulna, and Sylhet divisions, as well as the Chittagong Hill Tracts.These are areas where small entrepreneurs produce a variety of products.
Through this process, Satkhira Bazaar provides jobs to over 5,000 people, approximately 80% of whom are underprivileged rural women. Satkhira Bazaar then exports these products to global markets.
As a part of its philanthropic work, the Emerson runs two schools in Korail and Shahjadpur slum in Bangladesh. It also provides medical treatment through Dental Camp, Feminine Hygiene Camp, SunnateKhatna, Health and Hygiene Camp and Scabies Clinic.
