An all round performance by Sathira Jakir saw Mohammedan Sporting Club stormed into the final of the Women’s Cricket League beating Gulshan Youth Club by 99 runs D/L method in the curtail over first semifinal held on Tuesday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur.
The match was reduced 36 overs per-a-side due to rain. Batting first after winning the toss, Mohammedan Sporting Club posted 146 for 6 in 33 overs as rain force due to stop the play.
The two Mohammedan openers Sathira Jakir made an auspicious start contributing 43 runs and Ayesha Rahman 42 runs respectively.
Bristi was the pick of Gulshan Youth Club bowlers taking two wickets conceding 30 runs.
In reply, Gulshan Youth Club found the chase very stiff in the face of tight bowling attacks by Mohammedan bowlers and finally dismissed at a paltry total of 59 in 27.1 overs. Middle order batsman Fahima Khatun contributed 23 runs while Jannatul Ferdousi made 19 for the losing side.
Sathira Jakir and Ayesha Rahman were the most successful bowlers for Mohammedan taking two wickets each giving away 5 and 9 runs respectively.
Sathira Jakir of Mohammedan was named the player of the match for her impressive performance in the match.
Abahani Limited take Khelaghar Samaj Kalyan Sangha in the second semifinal schedule to be held on Thursday (August-14) at the same venue.
