The government on Tuesday appointed renowned journalist and Editor of the Daily Samakal Golam Sarwar as Chairman of the board of directors of the Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB).
The Information Ministry confirmed his
appointment saying that the post had been lying vacant following the death of former Chairman Habibur Rahman Milon.
Golam Sarwar who won the highest award in journalism, ‘Ekushey Padak’, in 2013 has got the appointment for two years, said an official at the Information Ministry on Tuesday. Born at Banaripara, Barisal on April 1, 1943, Golam Sarwar obtained his master’s degree in Bengali literature from Dhaka University in the 60s, and started his carrier as a journalist in 1963.
