Ankon Yasmin is one of the promising folk singers of present generation. Her full name is Ananya Yasmin Ankon who got primary learning in music from her father A Kashem Anu. Father is her inspiration of music.
Hailed from Chapainawabganj, Ankon has been developing her skill in music from her father during childhood. She started to love folk songs to hear songs of Farida Parvin, Tutul Baul and Shofi Mondal. She got awards at national level to render folk songs. In 2009, she got Gold Medal after becoming champion at the Bangabandhu National Children Fair.
In 2011, Ankon took part in Kolkata’s popular music reality show, SaReGaMaPa. In 2016, she became second runner-up in Channel i’s Banglar Gaan contest. In 2018, her debut solo song titled Bhalo Thkate Dilina was released under the banner of Dhruba Music Station.
Ankon came into discussion after releasing her debut song. Later, her original songs titled Biccheder korat, Amare chhariya, Trishna, Amai korli por, Shyam kolonko, Dukkho joto dao, Tala lagaichhe, Je premete, Bondhu jai, etc were released in last two years. Recently under Folk Station’s banner, her song titled Bondhu jai was released. Sarajat Soumo wrote lyrics of the song, while JK Majlish composed its music.
