Saraswati Puja at RU

The teachers and students of Hindu community in Rajshahi University (RU) celebrated Saraswati Puja on Saturday. They worshipped Devi Saraswati, the goddess of literature and culture at the university campus through different socio-religious manners.
Devi Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom and knowledge, learning, speech and music, and also the symbol of justice and beauty.
Hindu devotees, especially students and teachers of the university celebrated the Saraswati Puja at the university central temple premises, setting up colourful Mandaps and placing the idol of the goddess with different types of sweetmeats, fruits and handicrafts.
RU Vice chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin attended the programme as chief guest while Avizit Chattropadhai, Indian Assistant High Commissioner posted in Rajshahi attended the function as special guest at the discussion meeting chaired by Prof Nikhil Ranjan Ray, President of RU Central Puja Celebration Committee.
Prof Somnath Vattracharja of Physics Department, Tapon Kumar Sen, Trusty of Hindu Welfare Trust and Anonda Kumar Saha Prof of Zoology Department were also present in the discussion meeting.
