Minister for Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment Nurul Islam BSc declares to upgrade the Sanowara High School into a college very shortly .
He disclosed it while addressing the independence and national day celebration and the annual prize distribution ceremony at Sanowara High School in Balirhat under Bakalia thana recently.
Senior teacher of the school Krishna Sekhor presided over the program. Teachers of the school, and local elites were present on the occasion, sources said.
500-cft illegal timbers seized : Chittagong North Forest Division (CNFD) in separate drives seized 500 Cubic feet (CFT) timbers worth about Taka 10 lakh from two separate trucks from the city and the district last night and early Friday.
The forest personnel also seized the trucks bearing number Chatro Metro-Ta- 11-5403 and Chatro Metro-Da-11-1553, a CNFD press release said.
Based on secret information, a special team of CNFD in assistance with armed forest guards conducted the drive in Karnaphuli bridge area under Bakalia thana around 4.00 am and seized 250 CFT timber.
Earlier the same team also recovered 250 CFT timbers from another truck from Narayanhat area under Fatichari upazila of the district at 11 pm last night.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of CNFD supervised the drives while other concerned high officials were present during the operation. Two cases were filed with concerned police stations in this connection.
