Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont is a strong supporter of equality of wage and he is also a recent presidential contender who lost the Democratic nomination to the current President of the United States of America, Mr. Joe Biden. He is now also the focus of a nearly infinite stream of altered photographs that occupied several corners of the internet in the hours following Mr. Biden’s socially distant inauguration on Wednesday, due to his special apparel choices.
Mr. Sanders was pictured seated veiled, cross-legged and wrapped up in a heavy coat and mittens against the freezing weather in Washington, D.C. among the dark suits and light jackets. The painting, shot for Getty Images by photographer Brendan Smialowski, quickly started to circulate on social media, embedded in a wide variety of photos and scenes from films and artworks.
It’s in some ways apt on a day mostly about Mr. Biden that Mr. Sanders, whose best electoral support for the presidential election came from young people, would nevertheless be the star of the biggest meme of the day by doing little but sitting and crossing his arms.Mr. Sanders enjoyed a considerably greater online following than Mr. Biden in their primary rivalry, especially among those who also communicate via memes.
While other memes starring Mr. Sanders were frequently used to say something, in a 2019 fund-raising video in which he asked, “once again calling for your financial assistance,” and this line has been retooled in a plethora of ways. For the latest meme, there was no other underlying meaning. He was actually put in new ways instead of using his photo to justify a point, with his posture, outfit and voice themselves acting as the joke.
While the day led to Mr. Biden, after four years in which presidential politics gave Mr. Sanders’s followers little excuses to be in a happy mood, the meme acted as an entertaining freak show, a bit of a laugh and hilarity.
This was not the only meme influenced by Inauguration Day. Some focused on the attire of former first lady Michelle Obama, as well as on Lady Gaga, who sang the national anthem dolled up like a “Hunger Games” character.
Even with Janet Yellen, Mr. Biden’s candidate for Secretary of the Treasury, suited just as warmly, but it was Mr. Sanders, the new chair of the Budget Committee of the Senate, seemed like the most favorite by far.
Simple reviews of his realistic, relatively unremarkable apparel started with early comments about him. Some saw their uncles and fathers preferring to put comfort over beauty in their choices.
Then came the jokes, in which people on social media took Mr. Sanders’ initial image and sought new places for him and his hat. In history, he was placed. He sat down with an individual at the pool hall. He welcomed the sun with the state’s former governor, Chris Christie, at a closed state beach in New Jersey.
Others took the image of Sanders to the cinema, featuring him on the bridge of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame, which was elaborated by advertising its very own edition of the pose. A software developer in New York, Nick Sawhney, developed a device that allows one to add Mr. Sanders into every street address in the street view program of Google Maps.
Some of them did these because of their political purpose and some people have been making fun of this issue to pursue their own entertaining purpose. The senator’s avatar seemed to look very busy and absorbed in deep thoughts. It crashed in on a wiggling match and upstaged a portrait of Leonardo da Vinci.
Mr. Sanders collected his mittens from Jen Ellis, a second-grade teacher in Essex Junction, Vt., who designed gloves mostly on side and the BuzzFeedNews reported regarding this. Since Sanders defeated a fight for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2016, Ellis stated that she gave him a pair.
The mittens were made from repurposed yarn and these were also filled with wool. Ms. Ellis confirmed this via social media. In an interview with a news portal, Mr. Sanders himself laughed off the attention and made fun of the ongoing talk of the world regarding his attire.
The impact of this issue has spread all over the world and even some Indian movie sensations are sharing Bernie Sanders’s memes through their own social media accounts. People from different socio-economic backgrounds are going crazy about this particular issue over social media platforms.
