Collection of corona samples to test Covid-19 from 44 booths set up in Dhaka and other districts of the country has started officially on Monday with the support of a non-government organisation.
JKG Healthcare, an NGO, has been tasked with the collection of samples from the booths, while the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) will carry out the tests at their own lab.
Among these booths, eight are in Dhaka, eight in Narayanganj and the rest of them have been established in different divisions of the country, said a statement published by Directorate General of Health Services. Dr Sabrina Arif, Convener of JKG Healthcare, said, “Sample collection from the people to test for Covid-19 begins today utilizing the booths.”
The booths were made following the model of South Korea. H+ Yangji Hospital in Seoul, first started such a booth to provide Covid-19 test facilities.
Gradually 320 booths will be set up in all 64 districts, five booths in each district.
“We will install a total of 320 booths in phases across the country following the South Korea model,” said Dr Sabrina Arif.
