Salt trader killed in Cox’s Bazar

A salt trader was killed by unknown miscreants at Pekua upazila here on Sunday night. Police recovered the body on Monday morning from a water body at Matborpara area under Rajakhali union in the upazila and arrested two on suspicion.
The deceased was identified as Mahbur Rahman Matbor, 56, son of Haji Jahir Ahmed Matbor of the area.
The victim’s brother Nazrul Islam said his brother was returning home from Uttar Rajakhali Haji Market at night. On the way, assailants killed him and left his body in a water body. At 5am, a salt farmer Moksud saw the body and informed police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police Super (Circle) Masud Alam visited the spot at noon.
Police said, the body bore injury marks on its forehead, eyes and chest. Police also recovered an eyeglass, a pair of slipper and a seal weighing one kg.
Meanwhile, police arrested Md Kaisar, son of Karam Ali and Azgar Hossen, son of Ali Ahmad of the same area, for interrogation.
