Kamruzzaman Babu, Nagorik TV’s head of programs in a recent statement said: “We are organizing this festival as a tribute for him. He was undoubtedly one of the most popular and iconic actors of the Bangladeshi cinema.
All his films received a massive audience reach. It has been 22 years since his last film and a whole generation grew up knowing him by name, but had never watched any of his films. We are organizing this festival for them,” he added
Shahriar Chowdhury Emon, known by his stage name Salman Shah, was the most popular Dhallywood hero in the 1990s. He was a trend setter of his time. His dress sense, starting from his scarf to his bracelet became a trend among the young generation back then.
The actor met an untimely death. He was found dead in his Dhaka apartment on September 6, 1996. Police had filed a case of unnatural death considering it to be suicide, but Salman’s family objected to it and lodged a murder case.
