Local business tycoon Salman F Rahman has become one of the world’s wealthiest men, according to a Beijing based research organisation, Hurun Global Rich List 2017 released on Tuesday.
Mr Rahman, the first ever Bangladeshi businessman who has ranked 1685th position among 2257 billionaires of the globe. Billionaires from 68 countries of the world have been positioned their name in the list.
According to the list, total wealth of Salman is US$ 1.30 billion.
Salman F Rahman started his business under the banner of Bangladesh Export Import Company (Beximco) in 1972. At present he is the Vice-Chairman of Beximco Group.
Rahman later expanded his business in textiles and other sectors. He is the private sector advisor to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In Eighties has widely invested in pharmaceutical business and in Nineties, he stepped into politics along with expanding business.
However, this year’s Hurun Global Rich List has 100 billionaires from our next door neighbour India who have a net wealth of $1 billion or more.
Globally, Microsoft founder Bill Gates tops the list, followed by Warren Buffett and Jeff Bezos. Hurun is a China-based research firm.
