A salesman was stabbed to death allegedly by a mentally challenged man at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the city on Tuesday evening.
The deceased, Julhas, 50, was a salesman of a construction material shop on Indira Road in the city, GG Biswas, Officer-in-Charge of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station said last night.
The mentally challenged man stabbed Julhas at the
shop around 7:00pm, the OC said, adding that police detained the attacker. The victim was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) by one Md Alam, a tea-stall owner, where doctors declared him dead, the police official said.
The body of the victim was kept at the DMCH morgue for autopsy, he added.
Masud Raja, owner of the construction material shop, said Julhas was his caretaker and also used to manage the shop.
The attacker, a mentally challenged man, has been living in the area for around one and a half years, the OC added.
