Economic Reporter :
Urging concerned stakeholders to ensure quality edible oil for consumers, Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder on Tuesday said loose edible oil won’t be allowed to be sold in the markets after March 16, 2022.
“Unhealthy and adulterated food is an obstacle in creating efficient human resources. Businessmen should play a vital role in building skilled manpower for the country. If businessmen become aware, the tendency of adulteration in edible oil will be reduced to a great extent,” he said.
The minister made the statement while addressing a seminar titled “Food Safety and Quality Assessment of Drum Oil Sold in Market” at a city hotel, said a press release here on Tuesday.
Sadhan urged the oil traders to gain consumers’ trust by supplying quality edible oils to the customers.
Food Secretary Dr Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum and Industries Secretary Zakia Sultana addressed the seminar as special guests with Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) Charmin Md Abdul Kayowm Sarker in the chair.
BFSA Member Professor Dr Md Abdul Alim presented the keynote paper in the seminar while Country Director of Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Dr Rudaba Khondker delivered the welcome speech at the event.
