Although the acting headmaster of Shalgram Government Primary School in Bogura’s Adamdighi Upazila has died, the salary bill in the name of the deceased teacher has been filed with the Janata Bank Adamdighi branch through the treasury. The incident has caused a stir in the teaching community.
According to the information received, Rokeya Begum, an Assistant Teacher of Shalgram Government Primary School in Chhatiangram Union of Adamdighi Upazila, was acting headmaster of the school.
Teacher Rokeya Begum died on August 26, 2020 while undergoing treatment due to sudden illness and continuing her duties. The news of his death is known to all teachers and general public including Adamdighi Upazila Primary Education Office. Even the news of the death of teacher Rokeya Begum has been published in various newspapers.
The family of the deceased teacher also informed the Upazila Primary Education Officer about the death. Even then, the Upazila Primary Education Office submitted the salary bill for Tk. 32,092 in the name of the deceased teacher in the Janata Bank Adamdighi branch through the treasury last September.
When the correspondent spoke to Upazila Primary Education Officer Shamsul Islam Dewan after he was informed about the salary bill, he said that the office assistant had done it by mistake.
I was also wrong I signed that pay bill. Tapas Kumar, Manager of Janata Bank Adamdighi branch, confirmed the issue of salary bill in the name of deceased teacher Rokeya Begum. Talking to Upazila Nirbahi Officer Seema Sharmin about this, she said it was completely illegal. I am taking this matter seriously.
