Salary discrimination in oil, gas sector employees alleged

A view exchanging meeting of the leaders of Bangladesh Oil and Gas Workers Federation held with the joint secretary of Jatiya Sramik League central committee Alhaj Safar Ali at Jamuna Bhaban in city on Sunday .
President of Oil & Gas Workers Federation Nasiruddin presided over it. Among others, general secretary of the Federation Md. Yakub, Executive President Md Mamtazul Islam, Vice President viz. Md Yakub and Manik Chandra, Finance Secretary Md.Abul Kalam, Education Secretary Mujibul Hoque spoke on the occasion.
CBA leaders of sister concerns of Bangladesh Petroleum corporation viz. Padma Oils Company, Meghna Petroleum, Jamuna Oils, LPG Ltd and Standard Oils Ltd discussed the salary discrimination of the oil and gas sector corporation workers and employees including payment of Bangla new year bonus .
The meeting sought intervention of the Prime Minister to resolve the issue of salary discrimination of the employees irrespective of status.
The meet was told that the new pay scale so declared by this was implemented for officers only. The speakers in the meeting that the respective CBAs of these oil marketing companies submitted charter of demand early 17 months ago but the management annoyed over the implementation of their demands.
The central leader of the federation assured them to resolve the issue amicably and urged the concerned authorities to mitigate the salary discrimination at earliest possible time.
Central Secretary General of the federation Safar Ali assured the CBAs for his continuous support in realising their demands, sources said.
