Salaries of five more doctors in Sirajganj have been held up for their alleged irregularities in duty.
The district civil surgeon (CS) office gave the order for holding up salaries of five doctors of Belkuchi Upazila Health Complex on last Sunday and issued show cause notices to them.
During an official visit to the health complex on the day, a monitoring team headed by the district civil surgeon found the doctors absent there. They are Dr Shanzida Mahmud, Dr Monsura Ahmed, Dr Sajib Pal, Dr Nasima Sultana and Dr Fedous Ahmed. They did not come to the office according to the duty schedule. They were absent from the health complex without notice. This is a violation of job ruls.” said Civil Surgeon, Md Shamsuddin.
The team also visited Sonamukhi helth center in Kazepur upazila of the district on the same day. The team found medical officer of the health centre Dr Halima Khatun and assistant medical officer Md Shah Ali absent from the centre. The civil surgeon issued show cause notices to them also. The CS said the doctors have violated job rules, so they are facing departmental punishment. The department will take stern action against them if they fail to give a satisfactory reply in due time.
Earlier, the district civil surgeon office had held up monthly salary of seven doctors of Kamarkhand Upazila Health Complex and issued show cause notices due to their irregularities in duty on March 24, according to the district CS’s office.
“We have formed nine monitoring teams in the district to oversee the upazila health complex and the other medical units of the district. The teams will continue drive and take steps against those who fail to perform duty regularly,” the CS said.
