Election for only two top post of the Chattogram North District Unit of Bangladesh Awami League was held with direct casting of votes by the councilors . The incumbent General secretary of the party MA Salam elected President bagging 223 votes whereas ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury MP bags 129 votes.
On the other hand, Ataur Rahman Ata elected General Secretary with 196 votes and his nearest candidate Giasuddin bags 154 candidates . The full-fledged committee will be declared shortly following the advices of the central committee later on, conference sources said. Mentionable that 366 councilors excercised their casting votes in favour of these four candidates at International Convention Hall.
General Secretary of the party and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader MP and the Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud addressed the Council as Chief Guest and special guest respectively. Presidium Member of AL Engr Mosharraf Hossain, Adv.Abdul Matin Khasru, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Organizing Secretary Enamul Hoque Shamim , Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam, Deputy Office Secretary Barrister Biplob Barua were present on the occasion as special guest.
Among others, acting president of city AL Unit MahtabuddinChowdhury, City Mayor AJM Nasiruddin, General Gecretary of South Mofizur Rahman, MPs Didarul Alam, Mahfuzur Rahman Mita and the president , secretaries of Upazila AL committees were present on the occasion.
