Salahuddin`s wife again seeks PM`s intervention

Staff Reporter :Pro-BNP professionals at a press conference on Sunday expressed concern for not tracing BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin Ahmed even after 12 days of his missing. They demanded safe and unhurt return of the BNP leader.The professionals under the banner of ‘Nagorik Somaj’ arranged the press conference at the National Press Club in the city. Dr Sukomol Barua, Professor of Dhaka University, read out a written statement at the conference. Hasina Ahmed, wife of missing Salahuddin, at the press briefing once again sought Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention in finding out her husband. She appealed to the PM to order the law enforcers in this direction.Reiterating the claim that Salahuddin was picked up by law enforcers, she said, “I have the proof that the law enforcement agencies picked up my husband. I believe that I will get him back if the PM orders the law enforcers. I once again humbly request the PM to make the order. Please release me and my children from this deep worry,” she said. She also called upon the countrymen to help trace the whereabouts of the BNP leader. “Eye witnesses like security guards and domestic helps of my house have gone disappeared. I could not trace them,” she claimed.According to Salahuddin’s family and BNP, a team of 20/30 law enforcers picked up the BNP joint secretary general on March 10 from a house at Uttara in the city. However, the law enforcers have been denying it.Hasina Ahmed has submitted a memorandum to the PM seeking her intervention. She also filed writ petition to the High Court in this regard.Alongside Salahuddin, the Nagorik Samaj also expressed concern over the growing incidents of killing, enforced disappearance and mass arrest. They demanded a fresh acceptable election through a dialogue with the opposition parties to restore peace in the country.
