UNB, Dhaka :State Minister for Home Asaduzzman Khan on Tuesday said the government will take necessary steps to bring BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed back home when he Indian government decides to hand him over.”BNP leader Salahuddin is now an under-trial prisoner there and we’ll take necessary steps to bring him back when the Indian government decides tohand him over to Bangladesh government,” he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.Replying to a question about the government’s initiative to bring the BNP leader back, the junior minister said the Foreign Ministry is maintaining contact with the Indian government but did not get any response in this regard.Asked about the Interpol’s red alert against the BNP leader, Asaduzzman said the Home Ministry has not issued any red corner notice to India.Sought comments about Salahuddin’s statement that he had been taken to Shillong blindfolded after change of vehicles for several times, he said the BNP leader was changing his places frequently as the government was trying to find out him. “How Salahuddin reached Shillong will be known on his arrival in Bangladesh.”Meghalaya police arrested BNP joint secretary general Salahuddin Ahmed on May 11 as he was roaming in Golf Links area of Shillong after nearly two months of his disappearance.
