Saint Gregory’s High School emerged the champions of the Boys’ Group of the Polar Ice cream 22nd School Handball Tournament while Viqarunnisa Noon School & College became champions of the Girls’ Group of the Tournament on Tuesday.
In the day’s final, Saint Gregory’s High School defeated Dhanmondi Tutorial by 18-7 goals at the Shaheed (Captain) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium.
Saint Gregory’s High School led the first half 10-2.
Ikramul of Saint Gregory’s High School top-scored with eight goals and his teammate Sujan netted six goals while Minarul of Dhanmondi Tutorial scored three goals and his teammate Junaed netted two goals.
In the day’s other final, Viqarunnisa Noon School & College crushed Sunny Dale by 7-1 goals at the same venue.
Viqarunnisa Noon School & College had a 5-1 goals lead in the first session.
Fatema of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College top-scored with five goals.
Ikramul of Saint Gregory’s High School was adjudged the Player of the Tournament (Boys’ Group) while Ayesha of Viqarunnisa Noon School & College was adjudged the Player of the Tournament (Girls’ Group).
After the final matches Police Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Benazir Ahmed BPM (bar) distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest while Director of Polar Ice cream KM Touhiduzzaman was with him as the special guest.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Handball Federation Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Chairman of the Tournament Committee (Boys’ Group) Golam Habib, Chairperson of the Tournament Committee (Girls’ Group) Hamida Begum, Secretary of the Tournament Committee Md Selim Mia Babu were present at the time.
President of Bangladesh Handball Federation AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul presided over the prize-giving ceremony.
