A sailor was killed as he fell from the roof of his vessel on Shitalakshya River at Charmukterpur area of the district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 45, son of late Badiul Alam of Chattogram district.
Mukterpur Naval police outpost in-charge Abdul Hasim said Alamgir fell down from the MV Kafela-2 around 9am, leaving him dead on the spot as there were no goods on deck.
An unnatural death case was filed with Munshiganj Police Station in this connection, the in-charge added.
