Saif Sporting Club (SC) edged past Dhaka Abahani Limited by 3-2 goals in their second leg match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Friday.
Dhaka Abahani Limited have taken the third position in the points table securing 40 points from 21 matches, while Saif Sporting Club have achieved the sixth position in the points table collecting 35 points from 20 matches.
Saif SC led the first half 2-0.
Saif’s Nigerian recruit Kenneth Ikechukwu put his team ahead using a pass of his John Okoli in the 43rd minute of the play.
John Okoli made it 2-0 in the second minute of the injury time of the first half by a power-packed 25-yarder.
Dhaka Abahani’s Haitian recruit Kervens Belfort reduced the margin in the 76th minute of the game.
After two minutes, Jewel Rana leveled the margin for the Dhanmondi-based outfit.
Ikechukwu broke the dead-lock by a superb shot using a cross of his teammate Faisal Ahmed in the 81st minute.
Earlier, Shitol of Abahani Limited failed to put the ball into the blank net in the 16th minute of the match.
Abahani got another chance in the 34th minute but Rafael’s shot was gripped by Saif custodian Pappu.
Today Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club will take on Rahmatganj MFS at 4.00pm at the same venue, while Brothers Union will face Chittagong Abahani Limited at 6.15pm at the same venue.
